Watch: New Billy Graham Statue Unveiled at U.S. Capitol
Thursday, May 16 at 11 a.m. (ET): A statue of the late Billy Graham—representing the state of North Carolina—was unveiled at the U.S. Capitol. The sculpture, created by Charlotte-based artist Chas Fagan, shows Graham gesturing toward an open Bible in his hand and features two familiar verses on the base—John 3:16 and John 14:6.
The private dedication ceremony in the National Statuary Hall featured remarks from Franklin Graham and House Speaker Mike Johnson, along with special music from Grammy Award winner Michael W. Smith.
“This is a great honor and my father would be humbled and grateful,” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “At the same time, he would not want the attention on himself but on the God that he served—the Lord Jesus Christ.”
