Answer
I never knew my grandfather, but from what I hear he had no use for God, and lived a very immoral and selfish life. Someone told me that a person's bad behavior could bring a curse from God on his descendants, so they can't be saved. This terrifies me. Is it true?
Answer
I don't see how God can blame us for our sins. After all, we all grew up in homes that weren't perfect, and God shouldn't blame us if we have the same bad habits our parents did.
Answer
What is blasphemy? Is it the same thing as profanity? I admit that once in a while I get upset and use some cuss words I probably shouldn't, but I don't really mean anything by it.
Answer
I know we're supposed to confess our sins whenever we pray, but sometimes I can't think of anything to confess. I'm not trying to be proud, but I honestly try to do what is right. What am I missing?
Answer
I've been going through some hard times lately. I'm a Christian, but have I done something wrong and God is punishing me for it? I don't know what I did wrong, but I sure wish I could get this behind me.
Answer
I remember you saying once in your column that the Bible says all Christians are saints in God's eyes. But how can that be, since we obviously aren't perfect? I know God has forgiven me, but I think it would be presumptuous of me to call myself a saint.
Answer
My neighbor says he believes in God's judgment, but that it occurs while we are on earth, not after we die. In other words, if we do something wrong God makes us pay for it now, not later. He also believes that everyone will go to heaven, since they already will have paid for their sins while they were alive. This isn't what the Bible says, is it?
Answer
I've tried very hard to think of every sin I have ever committed so I can ask God to forgive them, but I'm sure I've forgotten some of them. Does this mean I won't go to heaven? I really worry about this.
Answer
I led a pretty wild life before I asked Christ to come into my life and clean it up (which He did, thankfully). But is God going to condemn me on the day of judgment for all the bad things I used to do?
Answer
I've heard preachers say that when a Christian sins our fellowship with God is broken. Is this true? And does this mean God cuts us off and won't have anything more to do with us until we repent and get things right?
Answer
I know God is displeased when we deliberately sin, but what if we do something wrong and we don't realize it's a sin? Is God still displeased? I'm sure I've done lots of things that were wrong without even realizing it.
Answer
Why did God allow Adam and Eve to sin? He must have known what they were going to do. The world was already perfect, so why didn't God keep it that way?
