A Texas resident shows BG-RRT members some of the damage the hurricane left behind.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is serving in Brazoria County, Texas, where Hurricane Beryl caused major damage last week. Beryl plowed through the Caribbean as a Category 5, dropping to a Category 1 as it reached the state’s coastline on July 8. The storm is responsible for at least 21 deaths across Texas, Louisiana, and Carriacou—an island in Grenada.
Chaplains provide a listening ear and prayer as people begin to grapple with the destruction around them.
Beryl’s intense wind and rain downed cell towers, blocked roads, and decimated approximately 95% of homes and businesses in the area. More than 250,000 people are still without power as temperatures hit the upper 80s this week.
Chaplains are providing emotional and spiritual care to hurting people outside of Houston—offering them the true peace found in Jesus Christ.
