Hundreds of Cambodian Children Find a Friend in Jesus
Thanks to your generous support and the Holy Spirit’s work, more than 2,700 young people and their families learned about Jesus’ love for them in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on October 26. A youth-focused event called KidzFest was held ahead of Franklin Graham’s visit to the city this December.
Kids from all over Cambodia’s capital city came to the Saturday morning event with friends and family members.
Despite their excitement, the young attendees waited patiently in well-organized rows to enter the Premier Centre.
Many KidzFest volunteers weren’t much older than the children attending the event. Right now, volunteers are preparing for another evangelistic outreach: the Love Phnom Penh Festival with Franklin Graham on December 7–8.
It’s not every day that a Cambodian child attends an event specifically designed for them. A buzz of youthful delight filled the expansive venue as hundreds streamed inside.
Dancing, singing, games and a skit kept the attendees engaged and taught them the basics of
the Gospel.
“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.” —Isaiah 54:13
The official religion in Cambodia is Buddhism, a belief system that doesn’t include a personal god. At KidzFest, hundreds of young people learned about the one true God, who knows and loves them.
A drama presentation helped explain the Good News in a way that even young minds could understand.
Every KidzFest event includes a time for those listening to respond. In Cambodia, more than 25 percent of the audience walked forward to make a decision for Christ.
Of those who responded, 500 prayed to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
>> Have you made the decision to start a relationship with God?
Know Him today.
After months of preparation and prayer, local believers were overjoyed to welcome so many young people into the family of God.
In the days since the event, local churches have worked together to connect with new believers.
With a population of about 1.5 million, many people in Phnom Penh have never heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. Next month, Franklin Graham will be in the city to share this powerful message with Cambodians of all ages.
