‘Heartbreaking’ Tragedy on the Streets of Waukesha, Wisconsin
Billy Graham chaplains provided a ministry of presence in Waukesha, Wisconsin, after an SUV plowed into a crowd enjoying a Christmas parade. Six people were killed and multiple others injured.
The youngest life taken was an 8-year-old, who died two days after being hit. News reports say at least 18 children were struck by the driver, who was arrested and is in custody. Among those hospitalized were three sets of siblings.
The violent act has shaken up the Milwaukee suburb. According to news reports, the suspect drove through barricades and by officers at the scene before careening into the crowd.
“The Christmas season is supposed to be a time of joy as we remember the birth of Jesus, and the fact that this Christmas parade turned into such a devastating incident is heartbreaking,” said Josh Holland, assistant director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team.
Chaplains joined hundreds of mourners at a prayer vigil. They offered emotional and spiritual support at a memorial set up to honor those who died in the tragedy.
After the attack on November 21, Franklin Graham posted, “Pray for all those affected, including those hurt, the families of those who were killed, and the first responders.” Will you continue to lift up all who were affected by this horrific incident?
