King George V wrote on the flyleaf of the Bible of a friend, “The secret of happiness is not to do what you like to do, but to learn to like what you have to do.” Too many think of happiness as some sort of will-o’-the-wisp thing that is discovered by constant and relentless searching. It is not found by seeking. It is not an end in itself. Pots of gold are never found at the end of the rainbow, as we used to think when we were children; gold is mined from the ground or panned laboriously from a mountain stream.

Jesus once told His disciples, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” The “things” He spoke of were the things that make us feel happy and secure—food, drink, clothes, shelter. He told us not to make these the chief goal of our lives but to “seek the kingdom” and these needs would be automatically supplied. There, if we will take it, is the secret of happiness.

There can be no lasting happiness or Pease without Love for God, indwelling of the Holy Spirit and worship of Jesus who would rather die than to live without us.

  6. Barbara says:

This is definitely “a word in due season” for myself and my husband as we have been struggling to care for our precious dog who has been fighting a skin disorder for over 2 years. We were about to give up on his healing, but then I heard the Holy Spirit guide me to an article that presented me with information that could expose the root problem. We presented this info to our vet and praise God she began a new treatment and here we are 4 days later and he is showing much improvement. “God’s will be done” is what we prayed, trusting He will work all things for His good purpose! Thank you again for this good word today!

  7. Rosario Lewis says:

Today’s Word really touched me, not that I never heard it before. This is secret to happiness: Matthew 6:24-34. Tell it to everyone. We worry of so many things like our finances our children’s future about tomorrow about our old age. The list goes on. Today’s message is just give it to the Lord. It’s not your worry. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and the rest will be added over. God loves us and has planned everything for us and God’s plan won’t fail. We worry about food, clothing, shelter and about old age. Today’s message was just the message we required. Amen
