Q:

Through Jesus, We Have Victory Over Death

A:

No, Jesus would never die again—and one reason is because forty days after His resurrection, God took Him from earth into Heaven. We call this event “the ascension”—because His disciples literally saw Jesus ascend into Heaven. The Bible says, “He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight” (Acts 1:9).

But after His resurrection Jesus would never grow old or die for another reason: When He was raised from the dead, God gave Him a new body that would never age or die. In some ways it resembled His old body—but in other ways it was far different. Thus, for example, Jesus was able to pass through locked doors and appear in the midst of His disciples—and then vanish from sight. We can barely imagine this—but it is one of the proofs that Jesus has conquered death.

Why is this important? One reason is because God has promised that someday we too will have new bodies—bodies that will be like Christ’s body after His resurrection. As the Bible says, “The body that is sown [in the grave] is perishable; it is raised imperishable” (1 Corinthians 15:42).

Do you know—absolutely know—that someday you will go to be with Christ, and when you do, you will be like Him? You can know, by putting your faith and trust in Him alone for your salvation. Open your heart and life to Him today. He died so that you and I might live with Him forever.
