No, this isn’t what the Bible teaches. God alone is God, and we are only His creatures. He has always existed; we have not. He is all-powerful and all-knowing; we are not. He is perfect and glorious; we are not. The Bible says, “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another” (Isaiah 42:8).

It’s true that Adam and Eve were made in God’s likeness, which means they had a soul or spirit and enjoyed perfect fellowship with God. And before they rebelled against God they walked in perfect harmony with Him. But even Adam and Eve weren’t “little gods”; if they had been, they wouldn’t have fallen for Satan’s lie: “You will be like God” (Genesis 3:5).

Ever since then, sin has scarred our souls and separated us from God, and our greatest need is to have our sins forgiven and become reconciled to our Creator. And this is possible, because God loves us, and He sent His Son into the world to die for us. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command” (John 15:13-14).
