Sin always has consequences—and your words are a sobering reminder of that truth. Sin not only makes us feel guilty, but it also cuts us off from God (and from others). Perhaps your words will cause someone who is being tempted to turn away from God to stop and reconsider. The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death” (Roman 6:23).
But listen: There is only one sin that God cannot forgive—and that is the sin of refusing to receive His forgiveness. Yes, your sin may be great—but God’s love and mercy are far greater! No matter what you’ve done, God stands ready to forgive you and cleanse you, if you will only turn to Christ and trust Him alone for your salvation.
How can God forgive us, even when we have committed the worst kinds of sin? The reason is simply because God loves us, in spite of our sin, and sent His Son into the world to make our salvation possible. Jesus was perfect and without sin —but on the cross every sin you and I ever committed was placed on Him, and He took the punishment we deserved.
The Bible says that Christ “offered himself unblemished to God, [to] cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death” (Hebrews 9:14). Let Christ forgive you and cleanse you of your sin and guilt today, by turning to Him in repentance and faith.
