Hurricane Francine slammed south central Louisiana with Category 2 fierceness on Wednesday evening.
“The storm brought torrential rains that caused downed trees, considerable debris damage, and flooding,” Franklin Graham said on social media. “Pray for the families who were in the path of this storm.”
Crisis-trained Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains deployed to Thibodaux to offer emotional and spiritual care to those reeling in the aftermath of this storm.
More than 24 people had to be rescued in Lafourche Parish—a 30-minute drive from Thibodaux—as rising floodwaters inundated the region.
“People across the Gulf Coast region have been impacted by the heavy storms and flooding from Hurricane Francine. In many cases, they’ve lost their homes and everything they hold dear,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT.
“As they navigate the dark and difficult days ahead, we’ll be there to offer emotional and spiritual care in the Name of Jesus.”
After a string of deadly tornadoes earlier in the year, devastating hurricanes and torrential rains in recent months have brought chaplains to many locations across the U.S., including Florida, Georgia, Texas, Minnesota, and Iowa.
Please lift up the communities affected by this hurricane and the chaplains who are ministering to them. Pray that many hurting people will find lasting comfort and peace in Jesus Christ.
