Charlotte Officer Laid to Rest
Crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) were invited by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to offer emotional and spiritual care following Monday’s tragic shooting that claimed the lives of four officers and injured four others. The other three officers killed were serving on a U.S. Marshals Task Force: Samuel "Sam" Poloche, William "Alden" Elliot, and Thomas M. Weeks Jr.
A horse-drawn carriage carries Officer Joshua Eyer's casket to Friday’s memorial service in Charlotte, N.C. The 31-year-old was one of the four law enforcement officers killed while serving a warrant.
Officers pray with a chaplain at the memorial service for Officer Eyer. BG-RRT chaplains offer the hope and peace found in Jesus Christ.
Have you experienced His peace?
Start here.
A chaplain embraces an officer in front of the Mobile Ministry Center, a safe space to gather for prayer and conversation. Fellow chaplains were also available to talk and pray with law enforcement.
A procession for Officer Eyer started at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and ended at First Baptist Church where his funeral was held.
BG-RRT chaplains salute Officer Eyer’s casket as it passes by.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18, ESV).
Please pray for families of the fallen officers, those wounded, and for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
