Alaska Retreat Helps Heal Law Enforcement Marriages
Four law enforcement couples recently traveled to Alaska for the Marriage Resiliency Retreat, hosted by the
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT)
, a ministry that helps those in the aftermath of crisis or disaster. This event was the third of its kind this summer.
The marriage retreat is designed for law enforcement officers who have been injured in the line of duty or experienced an officer-involved shooting. After facing such a tragic event, the outreach gives law enforcement families the chance to reconnect with one another and in their relationship with God. Over the course of several days, attendees go to multiple sessions hosted by retired law enforcement officers, experience outdoor activities like hiking and fly fishing, and take time to dig deep into God's Word.
"It was a privilege to spend time with these law enforcement officers & their spouses in Alaska this week for our @BGEA Marriage Resiliency Retreat,"
Franklin Graham tweeted
. "I thank God for them & their service."
“We were blessed by the opportunity to heal and restore our faith in the Lord," one attendee said. "The staff (family) blessed us with their kindness, love and patience. Getting to be in nature helped us as a couple really enjoy and reconnect with each other. The sessions were amazing!”
Both the staff and officers became tight-knit in less than a week's time. “God saved me. God has revealed what and who He wants me to be for [my wife]," another attendee shared. "I don’t think I would have had the eyes to see without being exposed to my [Alaska] family.”
"I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you." —Isaiah 44:22, ESV
Before heading home, law enforcement officers and their spouses had the opportunity to renew their vows. Will you continue to pray for these officers? Ask God to heal their marriages and help them share the hope of Jesus Christ.
