‘Tassies’ Transformed by the Gospel
Will Graham shared the Gospel Friday at the second stop of the
Tasmania Celebration in Launceston
. More than 1,200 people attended and over 100 of those made decisions for Christ. The free Celebration continues this weekend.
“Tassies,” as they’re nicknamed, soaked up time with the Lord.
Where in the world is Tasmania? The mountainous island lies 150 miles below the continent of Australia and is one of the country’s six states. Launceston is in Northern Tasmania, known for its sweeping valleys.
The Celebration is held at the Silverdome, Australia’s first indoor velodrome. It's basically a stadium built with steep banked curves, or velodromes, for cycle racing. The Silverdome is located in a quiet bush setting in the Kate Reid Reserve.
"God wants you to be with Him and that's why He sent Jesus into the world ... to rescue you," Will Graham told Launceston. "He bled and He died on a cross so that you could live ... so that you could be free."

Musical artist CASS was born in Zimbabwe but has lived most of her life in New Zealand. "Do you know God made you priceless?" she asked between songs.
The young crowd was on their feet, jumping and throwing their hands in the air, praising God.
This Launceston church is asking the public to attend the event. The first leg of the Celebration kicked off last weekend in Tasmania's capital city of
Hobart
. More than 140 churches from Launceston and Hobart are participating.
Maybe you’ve heard the saying, “I love you to the ends of the earth.” Will Graham traveled around the world to tell Tasmanians
how much God loves them
.
Celebrations are free and family friendly. All ages are welcome.
Tasmania has a gorgeous coastline framed by distant mountains. In some places at night, fairy penguins can be seen returning from the water to sleep and take care of their babies. They are the smallest, noisiest penguins and the only ones with blue and white feathers.
The island has a lot of the same animals as Australia's mainland, including kangaroos, wallabies, common wombats and wedge-tailed eagles. Until recently, the endangered Tasmanian devil was found only in Tasmania, but through a small breeding population, has been reintroduced to New South Wales on the mainland.
Big smiles from this group of friends.
Tasmania is nearly 10,000 miles from the
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) in Charlotte, North Carolina
. The ministry shares the Good News of Christ to the ends of the earth. In Mark 16:15, Jesus told His disciples, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
Will Graham meets with volunteers and staff before the Celebration starts. Celebrations aren't possible without their prayers and service through greeting guests, counseling, directing parking and everything in between.

A sausage sizzle that's popular at Australia and New Zealand barbecues was served at YouthFest. It's made of grilled sausage on bread, topped with grilled onions and sauce.
During morning devotions for the BGEA staff, Will Graham and others pause for prayer. Will you pray for many more to realize their need for God as the Tasmania Celebration continues?
