Franklin Graham spoke to 1,000-plus volunteers from all over the country gathered for the Sharing Hope in Jesus’ Name conference in Orlando, Florida. "These incredible men and women give of their time to go and serve, helping people, ministering to those who have gone through a crisis, and sharing the Gospel—the Good News of Jesus Christ."
How do you comfort and help someone who's just been through something devastating? The conference is a combined Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) and Samaritan’s Purse training event on responding to crises as the hands and feet of Jesus. It was held March 10-13 in Orlando, Florida.
Participants had a special time of prayer for the people of Ukraine and an end to the deadly conflict there.
Prayer calls on the power of God and can change lives and circumstances.
The Tommy Coomes Band are longtime ministry partners and have played at Franklin Graham Festivals worldwide.
One session allows pastors to share firsthand accounts of what it's like to lead their congregations during a crisis. Will you pray for volunteers to be refreshed in sharing the hope of Jesus after a tragedy?
Dennis Agajanian engaged the crowd as he led worship using his lightning-fast, flat-picking guitar skills.
It is especially encouraging to see young people participating in ministry events.
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." —Acts 1:8
The purpose of the conference is to better equip BG-RRT and Samaritan’s Purse volunteers for crisis ministry. Breakout sessions are intended to prepare participants to provide spiritual, emotional and physical care when disasters strike.
These BG-RRT chaplains are specially trained to come alongside those in crisis, whether caused by a natural or manmade disaster.
Attendees enjoy times of worship, encouragement from powerful speakers and hands-on skills training.
Practical sessions from Samaritan’s Purse teach chainsaw safety and training, roof trapping and construction basics. Often, while Samaritan's Purse volunteers are working on a home, BG-RRT chaplains talk to homeowners about how they're holding up after a disaster.
