Return to Me

What happens when a nation of people trade their glory for worthless idols? When they live by their own rules? Kay Arthur, co-founder of Precept Ministries, International and world-renowned Bible teacher will visit The Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove this weekend with her son, David, to teach us how to discover God’s truth for ourselves and disciple others by exploring the timely message of Jeremiah.

“In depth Bible study is more important than ever and our time to do that study is getting shorter,” says Kay Arthur. “It is amazing how rapidly current events are lining up with prophecy.”

Over a span of years, Precept Ministries, International has been going from Genesis through the Old Testament in precept courses in on online study. They just wrapped up the book of Jeremiah, the story of what happens when a group of people turn their back on God and seek worldliness and their own fleshly ambition.

Many e-mails come into the Precept office, marveling at how the study of Jeremiah is transforming and energizing people’s lives. “It is no accident that right now, in our nation’s history, we have just wrapped up the book of Jeremiah. We, as a nation, are falling farther and farther away from God,” explained Arthur.

“Jeremiah spoke to the people, but the wouldn’t listen to God or see His heart, as He stretched out His hand to disobedient people,” she said. “As we go through the passages of Jeremiah this weekend, we’ll see that the stubbornness of the leadership is what brings the downfall. The people were disobedient too, but the leadership could have changed the tide by fearing God.”

Not only is Kay Arthur looking forward to teaching this timely passage from the Bible, she is excited to do this with her son, David. “It is wonderful to work with him! He is a gifted teacher, and is very sold out to the Lord. He has a seminary education and is an avid reader. He is a lot of fun. I am excited to sit under his teaching.”

Together, Kay and David Arthur want to wake people up to the urgency of turning back to God as a nation while encouraging them of the hope we have in Jesus Christ and exhorting them to know the Scriptures.

“Thanks to years of Bible study, I am not wringing my hands or am I filled with anxiety. Rather, the peace of God is within me as I sit back and watch the unfolding of history (aka ‘His story’),” she assures. “I am so glad that, as Paul Harvey would say, I know the ‘rest of the story’ that God has revealed in His Word. I do feel a sense of urgency to help others know what is ahead, to know God’s plan, to know His covenant, and to know His saving grace.”
