During a plenary session on Friday evening, November 13, Kay Arthur will talk about Salvation: God’s Role, Our Responsibility. “God has used the principles I will discuss, in a sense, to free me from trying to be the savior,” she said. “The Truth is liberating and empowering. It moves us from our power to His power. From our pride to His sovereignty.”
While it is not up to us to be saviors, our responsibility to carry out a radically different lifestyle than that of the world is crucial.
Radical Christianity is Christianity
She said, “To be radical is to be serious about Christianity. God has the priority, and because of this, you are compelled by Truth, and motivated by it – motivated to share this Truth in a day where is so much deception, where the is so much angst over the future.”
In today’s general climate of uncertainty, she reminds that we need something solid to stand on: The whole counsel of God. “We know so many Bible verses snatched out of context that are claimed, but we need to know the whole counsel.”
She then speaks of Paul’s exhortation in Acts 20 as he prepares to go to Jerusalem and calls down elders from Ephesus to meet him. He tells them how he has not held back sharing whole counsel. He warns that from among them (the Ephesians), there will arise false teachers and they will not spare the flock.
“Paul’s warning to the Ephesians spurs me on to be a woman on a mission to proclaim Truth in these difficult times.”
Standing for Him in Difficult Times
So, how do we live in difficult times? What is our responsibility? Her best advice is to do what God says to do: Count it all joy. Know that there testing or trial is common to man. Acknowledge that it has been given to us to suffer. “We all suffer personally. Paul says he bears in his body the marks of Jesus,” she reminds us. “The greatest privilege we have to stand for Him in difficult times.”
Arthur believes the best way to defend our faith is to introduce people to the word of God so that they can come face to face with Truth. “I believe in the power of the Word,” she said. “God is the author of our faith and salvation.”
