Thousands Brave Rain for Reign of Grace

Brett, a 24-year old from Langley, is just one story. He became a Christian a year ago, but had a hard time living the Christian life. So when Franklin Graham issued the invitation, he recommitted his life to Christ. “Franklin is quite compelling. He kept saying to come up and I felt drawn.”

Brett says the Christian life is “a paradigm shift from my previous life. It was the secular life for sure. I looked forward to partying every weekend.” Now Brett wants to “get serious” about his walk.

“This is one of the coolest pushes I have seen in the Christian world and I want to be part of it if Rock the River ever comes back to Canada,” he added.

Carleigh, a 19-year old from Abbotsford, had a life-changing encounter at Rock the River too: “I hadn’t been in church in a really long time and I wandered away from God. And this seemed to pop up at the perfect time. I knew it was something I needed to come to.”

She said she is ready to “quit thinking about myself all the time and help other people.

“Everything today has been really touching,” Carleigh added. “It’s been one of the most moving experiences for me. Years ago, everyone was afraid to talk about God. So this event is great where everyone talked about Jesus boldly.”

Her friend Alex, who prayed for Carleigh to come forward, said, “God is definitely here and He is moving. I was praying a couple of weeks before the event–and as I walked out the door–that God would make a mark, that it wouldn’t be just an event, that it would be something that changes lives. That’s what happened. He is moving. There is a revolution coming.”

Surrey pastor Peter Klenner shared this story at the end of the night: “At the first altar call, there was a lady from Ireland with her husband and 15-year-old son. They just moved to Brunei, which is a strictly Muslim country. She is a Christian and has been praying for her son, although there is no evangelism or Church in Brunei.”

The family came to Canada for a week’s holiday and the very last day before they left, they attended Rock the River. “Her son made a commitment tonight!” said Klenner. “They had to come to Canada, living in Brunei, for her son to get saved at Rock the River. They are going back tomorrow. And the mom was just weeping!”

We will bring you more stories from Fraser Valley in the next couple of days. In the mean time, please pray for each and every new Christian as they get connected with local churches.

Pray also for Rock the River in Edmonton and Calgary.”We need people to pray,” says Franklin Graham. “Pray for us as we go in the month of August. This is going to be a tough time. There is going to be a battle that will be waged. It is a battle for the souls of men and women, of boys and girls there in Western Canada. We need people to back us with your prayers as we go.”
