Pointing People to Christ: My Father’s Legacy

Dear Friend,

My father turned 95 this past November 7, and our family was able to be with him as he celebrated another milestone in his long and productive life. Joined by many colleagues and friends from around the nation and the world at this celebration, he spoke briefly of these friendships and did not fail to point people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Pointing people to the Savior will forever be his legacy.

As part of the birthday gathering, guests watched our My Hope America program, The Cross, which includes a powerful message from my father. Beginning that same evening and during the next three days, more than 4 million households tuned in to watch The Cross on Fox News Channel, TBN, and over a hundred local television stations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Millions of others connected online through the My Hope With Billy Graham website, YouTube, Facebook, and other avenues of social media. In addition, it was shown in churches by video, in the living rooms of thousands of homes, at bookstores and coffee shops, and even during halftime of a high school football game.

We will never be able to know all of the numbers, but we do know that God did a mighty work and that He changed hearts all over the country. Pastors of churches around the nation have seen new believers flow into their churches as a result of My Hope America.

We give God the thanks and praise—we know that He has done it.

Near the end of November, I was able to preach to more than 77,000 people in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We thank God that over 5,500 individuals responded to the invitation to make a decision for Jesus Christ. The churches in this predominantly Buddhist country are very encouraged and excited about what God is doing there.

As we enter a new year, God has given us a full schedule of opportunities to proclaim His Gospel both here at home and around the world. My son Will and I are scheduled to lead evangelistic Crusades in cities from Texas to Mississippi to Pennsylvania, as well as in a number of countries including Poland, Sri Lanka, and Japan. In addition, we have Crusade events scheduled in cities across India that will be led by BGEA Associate Evangelist Robert Cunville. Will you even now begin praying with us that many will turn to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith?

To all who have stood with us—some for 60 years—supporting us financially and undergirding us through prayer, thank you for your faithful support. We are encouraged by how God has blessed the proclamation of the Gospel through My Hope America. As we see the Lord using it so effectively in people’s hearts, we plan to continue this outreach each year for the next five years along with our other evangelistic work. We are thankful that He is touching lives as tens of thousands have responded to the invitation to confess their sins and receive Christ as Savior.

We value your prayers—in fact, we depend on them. We find words of comfort and praise in the Psalms: “Oh, bless our God … and make the voice of His praise to be heard, who keeps our soul among the living, and does not allow our feet to be moved. … Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. … Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer” (Psalm 66:8–9, 16, 20, NKJV).

We also need your financial gifts, as God leads, to continue spreading the Gospel message here at home and around the world, just as we have done for many decades. Every gift is important and makes a difference.

May God richly bless you,

You Can Make a Difference

God works through people like you to change the world by the power of the Gospel.

Many spiritually hungry people who might never visit a church are willing to come and listen to the Gospel at a public stadium or park. Your gift will help proclaim the truth about Jesus Christ at Crusades in cities across North America from El Paso to Toronto, and in countries that include India, Sri Lanka, Japan, and Poland.

God has given us wonderful opportunities for evangelism in 2014—a full schedule—but no amount of energy and effort will succeed unless it is backed by prayer. As often as you can, will you pray for us? And pray especially for the lost people who will hear the Gospel through citywide Crusade events, through the next My Hope America nationwide outreach, and through many other BGEA evangelistic ministries. Your prayers can make a truly vital difference.

Fist heard Billy Graham in Forest Park in the spring when I was a young girl in St. Louis, Missouri with my mother and again in Kiel Auditorium also in St. Louis, MO. He visited a church down here in Florida down below Melbourne, Fla to speak at a church where my missionary friend lived. He came to visit her in honor of something special – I forget what exactly – Dr. Kellesberger’s wife Julia Lake who was a missionary with the lepers in Africa for many years. E. L. Reis-El Bara

  10. Mysixlw says:

The world is a better place, because Billy Graham said yes, to Jesus. Jesus paid for so much more than just, fire insurance. Come on in. Say yes. No guilt. No shame. Jesus took it all. All my punishment and yours. Your generation will be forever changed, like Billy’s, if you say yes.
I do and will cont to pray for this ministry.
