Light Burns Bright in the Shadow of the Arch

65,000 youth and young adults came out for the second of four Rock The River stops. They sang, they moshed, and they praised God for the work He’s done, both in their lives and the lives of their friends.

Rock the River (a new type of event for the BGEA) brings together musical acts designed to reach youth not acquainted with Christianity. In between sets, Franklin Graham takes the stage to talk from his heart to the lost and hurting.

Here in St. Louis, the musical line-up consisted of RED, Kirk Franklin, Skillet, Lecrae, Hawk Nelson, Canton Jones, and Flyleaf. When Franklin offered his first message, he spoke immediately about God’s deep love for each one of us: “If you don’t remember anything else today, I want you to remember this: God loves you.” That theme of love was echoed throughout the day, by the bands on stage and by the counselors meeting with several hundred people on the ground.

It was a truly beautiful and awe-inspiring day. The Rock the River Tour will continue to flow north. Next up is Davenport, Iowa on Aug. 8; and the top of the river – Minneapolis/St. Paul – on Aug. 16.

You too can accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Follow the Steps to Peace
