Franklin Graham will have the privilege of reading Scripture during the 45th Presidential Inauguration.

All eyes are on Washington, D.C., as Donald Trump and Mike Pence prepare to be sworn in as the new president and vice president of the United States. Franklin Graham, along with several other faith leaders, has been invited to participate in the swearing-in ceremony. The ceremony will be broadcast live on all major television news outlets and will also be streamed live on the web.

For the last year, Franklin Graham has called on the nation to pray and turn back to God. Starting in January 2016, he traveled to all 50 states, holding prayer rallies attended by hundreds of thousands of people. During each rally, he led crowds of concerned Americans in prayers of repentance for their personal sins and the sins of the nation and our forefathers. Now he is calling for unity as America gains a new leadership team in Washington.

“This country has been divided for a long time,” Franklin Graham shared on his Facebook page Thursday. “As we are just hours away from inaugurating the 45th president of the United States, we need to all pull together as Americans. Prayer is what will make a difference—God has the answers, if we’ll look to Him.”

Franklin is asking Americans to pray for the new president and vice president, as well as Congress and all elected officials, as God’s Word instructs believers to do. Franklin will be reading from the Bible during the swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, which begins at 11:30 a.m.

Franklin is not the only member of the Graham family in Washington this weekend. His daughter, Cissie Graham Lynch, is participating in several prayer events including a Saturday service at the National Cathedral. Follow BGEA on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates as you pray for inauguration weekend events and for the future of this country.

“We need to go beyond politics and come together in prayer,” Franklin Graham said. “Democrats and Republicans have to work together and make choices for the good of the nation.”
