2011: The Year in Photos and Stories

From the Festival in Haiti to the earthquake in Japan, we shared God’s love with people whose lives were shaken by natural disasters. Rapid Response Team chaplains reached out to tornado victims in the South, while the new Internet Evangelism ministry reached out online. Dare to Be a Daniel, RANSOM and The Greatest Journey are training new generations to be disciples, while My Hope continues to touch lives in the farthest corners of the world. Days after a deadly earthquake and massive tsunami hit the northeastern coast of Japan, Franklin Graham and a team from BGEA hit the ground in Japan bringing relief to hurting people. We are still training pastors and Rapid Response Team chaplains are supporting volunteers from Samaritan’s Purse as we prepare for a Festival in 2012.

BGEA Launches Internet Evangelism Ministry

Late April saw the birth of PeaceWithGod.net, part of SearchForJesus.net, BGEA’s Internet Evangelism ministry. Based on John 3:16, PeaceWithGod.net uses videos, testimonies and a simple Gospel presentation to explain how a person can be saved through faith in Jesus Christ.

My Hope Takes ‘Living Room Crusades’ to Haiti, Spain, Portugal and Zambia

Believers in Spain are seeing God move beyond their expectations through Mi Esperanza. Over the past few months, about 8,500 individuals from 1,100 churches were trained to be Mateos (Matthews)—people who would invite friends to watch a Gospel television program with them in their home or church: Learn more about the outcome in Spain. Discipling kids around the world continues through the efforts of The Greatest Journey. In 2011, we witnessed graduation ceremonies in Haiti, Kenya, Peru and Guyana—just a few of the many countries in which this ministry is making a difference.

RANSOM: New Online Community for Young Adults

RANSOM.tv, a website community geared toward young adults, kicked off this year with the goal of encouraging believers with stories and Scripture, and reaching out to those who are hurting. The target audience is young adults in college and early career stages of their lives.

Dare to be a Daniel Makes Waves

2011 may possibly be the most impactful year ever for Dare to Be a Daniel. The sixth year of ministry for tweens and young teens at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association witnessed 6,982 students trained as Daniels equipped to spread the Gospel to their peers.

Library Hosts Homecoming Tent Revival

On May 3, Bill and Gloria Gaither, along with the “Homecoming” family, took a musical journey back in time and relived the spirit of early tent revivals, where countless souls were impacted for eternity, and where Billy Graham’s public ministry took root in 1949. This outdoor “Homecoming” Tent Revival was filmed in a huge open-air tent on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library.
