The Decision America Tennessee Tour finished up May 21 with a stop in Memphis. Franklin Graham visited three cities prior to that—Chattanooga, Clarksville and Jackson—telling each city about Jesus Christ and calling people to pray for a nationwide revival.
Around 22,500 people attended one of four stops along the Tennessee Tour this month. Franklin Graham led each crowd in a time of prayer.
When the crowd filled the lawn, many spilled out into the parking lot. Some set up folding lawn chairs and blankets in the medians. Around 4,400 people attended the Memphis event.
“If we truly get on our knees and say Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, … we will see a revival in our country,” Jeremy Camp told thousands gathered as he led worship.
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains were on hand at each stop along the tour. They offered prayer to anyone who needed it.
“Jesus was the most courageous man that ever walked this earth,” Franklin Graham said. So courageous that He willingly, and single-handedly, took on the weight of the world’s sin. Have you heard about what Jesus did for us? Read more.
Locking hands, thousands on the lawn prayed out loud and quietly. They prayed for forgiveness of their sins and for those in authority in America to have wisdom in the days to come.
While not everyone could see Franklin Graham in Memphis, thousands watched his message live on Periscope. One woman commented while watching, saying her 7-year-old granddaughter had just prayed and asked Jesus into her life.
Seeking a godly America isn’t necessarily easy: “Anytime you’re about God’s work, there’s always opposition,” Franklin Graham said. He told Christians there to stand strong in their faith.
“America today, friends … we need God’s favor,” Franklin Graham said, encouraging the crowd to pray hard for their country.
“All of heaven is rejoicing right now,” Jeremy Camp said at the end of the night, after dozens stood to show they were committing their lives to Christ.
The Decision America Tour will pick up in Texas this October. Keep an eye on BillyGraham.org for details in the weeks to come.
