Memorable Billy Graham Birthday Celebrations

By   •   November 6, 2017

Billy Graham has had several memorable birthdays during the last 99 years, particularly as he spent more than half his life traveling the globe for Christ. Of course in a time that predated smart phones and social media, many images are hard to find. Here are some snapshots from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association archives.

It was around Billy Graham's 16th birthday when he made a decision that would change the entire trajectory of his life. It was then that he was born again.
Billy Graham's first Crusade, the Greater Los Angeles Campaign in 1949, was supposed to last only three weeks but was extended five times. It ultimately ran into Billy Graham's 31st birthday. Ruth Graham wanted to join her husband and made plans to visit, but arrived on Oct. 7 instead of Nov. 7. "I've never felt so foolish in my life, and got ribbed good and properly," she was quoted as saying in Billy Graham's autobiography "Just As I Am." This photo, taken by the Los Angeles Examiner, features Cliff and Billie Barrows alongside Billy and Ruth Graham.
Family and friends were a part of Billy Graham's 60th birthday celebration held in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, he hands his mother Morrow Graham the first piece of cake.
Ever the happy couple, Billy and Ruth Graham cut the cake for his 60th birthday party. The event was held days ahead of his actual Nov. 7 birth date because he would spend the following days traveling to a Crusade in Singapore.
A beautifully decorated cake awaited Billy Graham during a family trip to Orlando in 1988. The cake, signed by the kitchen crew, included a lovely note and quoted Proverbs 3:5-6.

Billy Graham's family surprised him with a cake during a dinner for his 77th birthday in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
In 2001, President and Mrs. George W. Bush invited Billy and Ruth Graham to the White House for Billy Graham's birthday dinner. Very few people were invited to the private celebration, during which President Bush offered the dinner prayer.

During his 95th birthday, Billy Graham put the spotlight on the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
Franklin Graham shared this shortly after his father's milestone birthday: "After we celebrated my daddy’s 95th birthday he said to me, his next goal was to celebrate his 100th birthday.”
One year to go.

Thank you Billy Graham for preaching the Gospel in 1957 in NY! I finally understood what salvation meant in a crystal clear way. I have a picture of you praying on my bedroom wall. It constantly reminds me to pray unceasingly!

  4. Jill Austin says:

I was born into and raised in a Christian home, but I don’t remember making a public confession of my faith in Jesus Christ until 1957 when I was 12-years-old and went to hear Billy Graham in Madison Square Garden. I went forward and professed my faith. I have grown in my faith and loved Jesus ever since.

  5. Mary Prior says:

I praise God for the wonderful ministry of Mr. Billy Graham!!!
