Billy Graham Chaplains Offer Respite from Blaze to CA Residents

As hundreds of fires burn simultaneously throughout California, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) is offering emotional and spiritual support in Napa Valley—where one of the largest active fires, the LNU Lightning Complex, is currently raging.
These fires have displaced thousands across Northern California as flames wreak havoc on homes, businesses and forests.
On August 29, RRT chaplains drove two hours to nearby Santa Cruz, California, where evacuees were waiting to hear if they could return to their homes.
In Santa Cruz, the Rapid Response Team ministered in the same parking lot where the American Red Cross has been providing food, restrooms and showers to people in need.
The heartbreaking situation in California changes every day, as firefighters work to contain the flames.
Locals can walk right up to the RRT’s Mobile Ministry Center (MMC) to talk and pray with a caring chaplain.
The MMC gives distressed residents a much-needed respite and a taste of God’s love and comfort. It's also stocked with Bibles in English and Spanish that chaplains offer to residents.
California residents of all ages are facing the emotional toll of multiple crises, between this natural disaster and the continued effects of COVID-19.
These families can only wait—and pray—as flames threaten to destroy their homes.
In a time of widespread isolation, even a quick word of encouragement can make a huge difference.
California residents need our prayers. Join us in asking our heavenly Father to provide comfort through the Billy Graham chaplains ministering in Napa Valley.
