God, the Peacekeeper

You have an ego-a consciousness of being an individual. Of course, you do. But that doesn’t mean that you are to worship yourself, to think constantly of yourself, and to live entirely for yourself. Common sense tells you that your life would be miserable if you followed that course. God is infinitely more concerned about your happiness than you could possibly be. He says, “Deny yourself, and follow me.” There is many a person in the insane asylum today who thought excessively about himself, to the exclusion of God and others. Hypochondriacs who have a fanciful anxiety about their health will never be well, regardless of their physical condition.

This devotion spoke to my heart because I have wants, needs, desires and dreams as a Christian believer. Daily I have to surrender them to the Lord, I do not to miss out on God’s plans and purpose for my son, my family, friends and myself. Thank you Lord. Proverbs 3:5&6

  6. Elizabeth "Bet" Gove says:

I have been delivered from all my sins that I thought I had hidden. I remember once saying that I would take all my secrets to the grave with me. But, at that time I didn’t know Jesus I knew of him but was not allowed or told to pray to HIM and HIM alone. We prayed to Mary and all our works is what we needed to do and then when we ended up in purgatory they would try and pray us into Heaven!!!! Jesus’s name was not allowed to be spoken in our home and I will tell you this that home was NOT a loving place. There was so much sin going on my father had a rage in him that he would hit us with whatever he had in sight it would either be his belt or his hand, fist, chair, and he would not stop hitting one of us until his rage was satisfied.

  8. Gerry says:

Balance is the key. Self respect is important however acknowledging that we are all sinners, needing a Savior, is more important. Keep your focus on God’s Word , first and all else will follow.

  9. Joyce Paul says:

Only JESUS, the Living Water, can satisfy the thirsty soul. GOD BLESS!
