Do You Enjoy God?

Do You Enjoy God?

I have a friend who is as orthodox as they come, but she is such a chronic worrier that her six children fail to see the resemblance between the God she claims to follow and what she expresses through her life.

Do you really live what you profess? What type of person are you? What is your attitude toward God? Do you know Him? Do you love Him? Do you live Him?

Anyone who has even a nodding acquaintance with the Westminster Catechism knows that “man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” Do you enjoy God?

Psalm 37:4 tells us that we are to delight ourselves in the Lord. The Septuagint translation has the most marvelous rendering of these words: “Indulge thyself with delight in the Lord.”

Do you indulge yourself in the Lord? Do you enjoy the peace of sins forgiven? Do you enjoy the Bible? Do you enjoy praying? Do you enjoy sharing Jesus Christ with others?

Someone has said that the best way to get a child to eat is to let him see his parents enjoying their food. It doesn’t make a great deal of difference how much you believe if you aren’t behaving as if you believe.
