Q:

I think I could make it through the problems I'm facing if I just knew that God cared about me. But I'm not sure He does, because nothing ever seems to change, no matter how hard I pray. What would you say to someone like me?

A:

Let me respond to your question with another question: What would it take to convince you that God actually did care about you? What would you expect Him to do?

I don’t know how you’d answer this, of course—but I suspect you’re probably hoping that God will somehow intervene and all your problems will suddenly vanish. If that happened, it probably would convince you that God actually cared for you. But what about the next time you have a problem, but it doesn’t go away? Would you still be convinced God cared about you? Perhaps not.

This is why I urge you to look beyond your immediate problems to something that happened some 2,000 years ago: the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. He was God in human flesh—and He came into the world for one reason: to demonstrate God’s love for us. He did this by giving His life for our salvation.

In just a few weeks we’ll be celebrating the most important event in human history: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Do you want to know if God cares for you? Look at Christ, who gave His life for you and even now is in Heaven praying for you. Your life will never be the same once you open your heart to Him. God’s promise is for you: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Open your heart to Jesus Christ.
