Q:

Why does God seem to bless some people even when they don't have anything to do with Him? Some of the most prosperous people I know aren't religious, but that hasn't kept them from being very successful.

A:

Have you ever asked yourself what success is in the eyes of God? We often say a person is successful if they have wealth or power–and that is understandable. But God doesn’t define success the way we do, and His definition is different from ours.

Success in God’s eyes has to do with our character and with our faithfulness to what God wants us to do. Jesus wasn’t successful in a material sense, nor was He socially or politically powerful–not at all. And yet in God’s eyes He was absolutely successful, because “He was faithful to the one who appointed him” (Hebrews 3:2). God sent Him into the world to save us from our sins by His death on the cross, and He was successful because He did exactly what God sent Him to do.

You see, a person may be very successful in the eyes of the world and yet be a failure in God’s eyes. This is why material success isn’t necessarily a sign of God’s blessing. Yes, sometimes it is; God does call some people to positions of wealth or influence. But often it is only a sign of a person’s selfish determination or even greed.

What is your goal in life? Is it to achieve success in the eyes of others–or is it to please God? Some day this life will be over, which is why Jesus said, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:20). Begin this today by putting Christ first in your life.

I just want to be loved man. I literally have no one. all i have is my adopted mother and grandpa and when they’re gone it’s just me. Does god have a plan for me or am i just not good enough? does he love me? does he care? I am nothing without him and i’m so sick of praying and things getting worse! I tried putting things in his hands and not to stress out or get mad at him because there is a reason for everything.

    1. Gabrielle says:

Dee, you are so incredibly loved! You are loved by the One who has shaped you and put a purpose inside you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! He cares and loves you so much that He died for you, in the most brutal way possible. You have probably heard it many times that everything happens for a reason, which I would like to disagree with. Sometimes horrible things happen, that God did not plan for or want for you. But that doesn’t mean He isn’t in control, He might have allowed it for reasons we just can’t understand. We are finite beings who possibly cannont understand an infinite God. Just keep putting your trust in Him and lean on Him always. Put your cares in His hands, someone who can actually do something about it. He is there

    2. Gabrielle says:

For you always. Even if you can’t feel Him or hear Him at times, He is ALWAYS there with you. Unto the end! Just know He hears your prayers and loves you so much!! Keep the faith and keep His word!! He has so many promises that WILL come through for you!

  2. Antoinette says:

When there are people in this world that have way more food and shelter than they need and so many that have nothing…how do you convince the ones that have nothing that they are loved by God? When people do what the Bible says and don’t get the results that are promised in the Bible…how do you explain that??!

    1. Gabrielle says:

Antoinette, the love God has for you and for every single person on the planet doesn’t depend on what one has material-wise. we live in a flawed world which means that greed and selfishness exist. Thats why some have too much and some have none. Keep praying and keep the faith and keep Gods word first in your life! I promise you He is listening and He loves you so much!! He wants to bless you and wants you to live and abundant and joyful life! Even when things are hard and do not make sense at times, trust and lean on Him! Praying for you and God bless!!

    Where is God.
    What did I do.
Even if ur abused as a child, what did I do at 7yrs old
I still pray every day for help.
I haven’t left Christ but I’m not 100% He is there for me or love me.
    I still love him.
I have a few diseases there is no cure for but it’s okay.
    Where is God.
I mean I don’t even have a garbage disposal and I still love God waiting for a break bc I still love God.
Things are unevenly yoked/distributed. I only see other positive posts so idk if it will be approved but keeping it real

I’m I loved, has God forgotten any of us. Is God hearing my prayers.

    1. BGEA says:

      Joyce,
God does love you. He has not forgotten you. You are important to Him. He says, “You are precious to me . . . and I love you” (Isaiah 43:4). Please visit http://peacewithgod.net/ to talk about this further with a member of our team.

  7. Sue Young says:

Why does God seem to bless some and not others? More than anything I wanted grandchildren in my husband and my life but it never happened. Have two healthy adult boys and neither have gotten married. I don’t understand. I have prayed and prayed.

    1. Marie says:

I see you as blessed. I have no husband, no family. I’d love to have children, but I’d be the happiest woman if I just had the man I love. You have a husband. You have your beautiful sons. In all likelihood, they will get married and have families. You are blessed. Imagine if you had no husband and were all alone.

  8. Dheeraj says:

Sometimes God blesses us so that we could possibly bless others too.

  9. Dorothy says:

I am not rich nor am I am poor, for all God’s blessing just pours. I am blessed with a roof over my head, blessed with a nice warm bed to lay down at night my weary head. God blesses all my needs that for sure that indeed. Money cannot buy blessings sent down from above from God’s true genuine love.
