Q:

I received a Christmas card that says, "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." What exactly does that mean?

A:

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

The Gospel of John is a wonderful place to start when reading the Bible because this verse is in the first chapter which reads, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.” God’s Word came to us in the form of a baby who was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. The message from God in Heaven declared, “I am sending My only Son to you and His name will be Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (see Matthew 1:21).

Christ not only came in the flesh, but He can live in you. He can be incarnate in your life. Right now, where you are, you can receive Christ into your life and experience the incarnation of God in the human soul. You can have Christ living in you—”Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

Have you received the Christmas gift God has sent to you? It makes no difference who you are or where you are. Your life can be changed if you will humble yourself and let Christ take up residence in your heart. You can become a new creation by turning from your sins and praying, “O God, I am a sinner. I turn from my sins—I give them up. Forgive me and make me your child today. Give me the faith to believe in You and help me live every day to glorify You, my Savior, Amen.”

Take some Christmas money and purchase a Bible and read it every day and find fellowship in a church that teaches the Scripture—God’s truth that will lead you in His way.
