Q:

We prayed and prayed for my mother's cancer to be healed, and we really believed God was going to do it (as did she, for she had a strong faith). But He didn't, and we're devastated. Was it because we didn't have enough faith?

A:

Don’t blame yourself for what happened; your mother didn’t suffer and die because you didn’t have enough faith. Instead, God graciously took her to her heavenly home — and that should give you great joy, in spite of your grief.

God certainly wants us to pray when loved ones face a health crisis — and we should pray in faith, believing that God is able to bring healing. And He is, because He is all-powerful, and He is able to act in ways that are far beyond our understanding. (Remember, too, that He can use medicines and doctors and nurses to bring healing; after all, He gave them their abilities.)

But the Bible also tells us that we live in a fallen, sin-ravaged world — and eventually we all will die. When we know Christ, however, we need not fear death, for ahead of us is heaven because of what Jesus Christ did for us. The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Is your hope in Him?

Although it may be hard for you to accept, in reality your prayers were answered and your mother was healed, for she is now in heaven. Her cancer is gone, and so is every suffering she endured on earth. Take time to thank God for what your mother meant to you, but thank God too that she is now in heaven, and that one day you’ll see her again.

I’m the oldest of two children. My mothers just been diagnosed w/advanced pancreatic cancer. My father has dementia. My younger sis has been a party girl all her life & has caused a lot of pain & heartache to my parents, her children & me. My parents have entrusted me with certain responsibilities because they trust me. My sis doesn’t understand this & is being dramatic about how she should have just as much power as I do. I need prayers for my parents health and healing & how to deal with my sister. I also ask for prayer in making any decision that’s needed for my parents.

I believe that you have given her the greatest answer anyone could give a person. Sometimes, God healing is not always what we on earth desires for others. God, loves us and He desires for us to pray in faith for others as well. Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:7-8 “As you go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast our demons. Freely you have received, freely give. To me this is telling us as the people of God that stand in faith of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that He has given us the authority to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demon. All we have to say is “Be Healed in the name of Jesus Christ” and watch the power of God move.

Janies – I wish it were that simple. I prayed as hard as i could with weeping, begging and tears, for my death mother to be healed, including in Jesus name, but it was to no avail. She died in front of me. So, what can I say? I feel utterly destroyed inside. Broken. Totally. And now completely lost.

Andrea, I lost my mother at the age of six, but I didn’t blame God. God loves you Andrea, and He is there for you at all times. Just, because you can’t see Him or feel Him doesn’t means that He isn’t. Andrea, God cares for you more than anyone in this world, because He is your Creator. God knows you better than you knows yourself. I have been without both parents in my life, but to know that I have God in my life guiding my steps means everything to me. I have three children and I have been a single parent for 22 years and I am teaching them to only depend on God and God alone. I know that God loves me and I can see His hands in my life every hour of the day. I can feel Him, because I have allow Him into my heart for Him to show me His will

Andrea I understand what you feel, i’ve been through this feelings until now. Sometimes I think I didn’t give my all for my mother to be healed with cancer. I prayed a lot with tears and colds all over my face how many times a day. But still God didn’t answer me. I think it is really their time to go to heaven with our creator because if not, God already answered our prayers. Be strong and face life with faith in God. He is a loving God that will never leave us. Ask Him to lead you in straight path happy life. God Bless You.

  8. Billy says:

But God did heal her if she was a Christian. God will either take the sickness away from us or us away from the sickness. For a child of God, absent from the body, present with the Lord.
