Q:

If you asked me if I believed in God, I'd probably say yes. But to be truthful, I just never think about Him. It's true for most of my friends also. We're all preoccupied with living, and God just doesn't enter into things. What would you say to someone like me?

A:

The first thing I’d say to you is this: You may never think about God—but God thinks about you all the time! You are never invisible to Him! The Psalmist said, “Where can I flee from your presence? … Even the darkness will not be dark to you” (Psalm 139:7, 12).

Why is this? One reason is because God made you, and He cares about you. In fact, the Bible says He loves you. If you have ever been in love, I suspect you thought about your beloved all the time, even when you were apart from her. In a far greater way, God thinks about us all the time, even when we are apart from Him because of our sin. And He has demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus Christ into the world to give His life for us.

But you’re also in God’s thoughts because He knows what happens to us when we leave Him out of our lives. You may think you don’t need God—but what of the future? How will you react when life turns against you, or sickness or old age restricts you, or death finally grips you?

God put you here for a reason; why be satisfied with anything less than His perfect plan for your life? Don’t let doubt, or self-indulgence, or the drive for success, or anything else keep you from Christ. Respond to His love by making Him—and not yourself—the center of your life.

Are you ready to accept God’s love?
