Q:

I'd really like to find God, but I get confused because there are so many religions. I didn't grow up in a religious family, but I've studied some of the main religions, although I haven't made much progress. Maybe you can help me.

A:

Down inside, we all have a hunger for God (even if we don’t realize it) — and my prayer is that you won’t give up until God Himself has satisfied the hunger you feel in your soul.

And you can come to know God — because God wants you to know Him! He made you, and He loves you — and more than anything else, He wants you to come to know Him and go to live with Him forever in heaven. And He has made this possible by sending His Son into the world to reconcile us to God. The Bible says, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

How is this possible? It’s possible because Jesus Christ came to tear down the barrier between us and God — a barrier caused by our sin. God is holy and perfect, and even one sin would keep us from His presence. But on the cross all our sins were transferred to Jesus, and He took upon Himself the judgment and Hell we deserved. Now we can be forgiven and cleansed of our sins — and when that happens, the barrier is torn down. We can know God!

Now God offers us salvation as a free gift — free, because Jesus Christ has already paid the price for it. My prayer is that you will reach out and accept that gift today, by asking Christ to come into your life as your Lord and Savior.
