Does the devil know the future, and can he influence it the way God can? Sometimes it almost seems like he knows what we're going to do, and goes ahead of us to make our lives difficult.

The Bible doesn’t answer all our questions about the devil — but he (unlike God) is not all-powerful, nor can he gain victory over us when we are under God’s protection. The Bible says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).

This isn’t to downplay Satan’s ability to interfere in our lives — for he does have power, and sometimes his hand is very evident. I think, for example, of places that are torn by violence and conflict because of the schemes of evil men — and I know that behind them is Satan. I know too that when we decide to leave God out of our lives and live for sin, then Satan is also at work. The Bible calls him “the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient” (Ephesians 2:2).

But never forgot two truths about Satan. First, he is absolutely opposed to God and His plans for our lives. His temptations may be very attractive — but in the end they’ll only harm us and lead us to death. Second, Satan is a defeated foe. By His death and resurrection Jesus Christ overcame death and Hell and Satan, and now we don’t need to fear them if we know Christ.

Most of all, remember that we don’t need to fight Satan and his temptations on our own. Christ is with us, and He will help us gain victory. Is your faith and trust in Him, both for your eternal salvation and for your life right now?

  1. Yvonne says:

My question is what does Satan know about us? I see people who believe words from others simply because they don’t feel Satan could know such things about their lives. What does Satan actually know?

  2. Loston, Moore says:

Thank you God, because you loved the world, I believe in my lord God and Jesus Christ.. Us Christians know that Satan opposes everything that God put out for man kind.. He deceives and destroys. I love God & Jesus Christ.. we Christians know that Satan is ready to corrupt the world. The hearts of men are wicked, the end is near..the Devil will put many obstacles in your way. Just keep your Faith in God.. God will protect us from him.. Amen.. in Jesus’ Holy name..

  3. Evangelist says:

Satan does TOO know that the time is near. The bible clearly states in matthew 24:37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Look at the world around us today. The hearts of men are desperately wicked and there is so much wickedness going on right now. Gay marriage is now legal and other abominations are a norm. It is legal to live wickedly but to be a christian and to profess your faith is strictly prohibited. they have removed Christ from the schools and work places and life in general… look at the world around you. If we, as mere human beings can see that the end is near, would not the Angel of Darkness also be aware of this? Satan knows, and he is desperate, and hence the corrupt world!

  4. Dequincy Scort says:

Well 1 Cor. 2:7-8 says that if the princes of this world had known that crucifying Jesus was going to be for our glory they wouldn’t have crucified. Jesus died in the past. So, if the devil had the ability to see into the future he never would have put Jesus to death. Which means he doesn’t or cannot see into our future

  5. Hem says:

Lately I feel like I’m in a battle that the devil’s planning. It’s like he knows my future and plan these schemes to just hurt me more. I’m battling with sin, faith, and also trying to really understand God’s plan for my life. The closer I try to get to God it’s like the devil already put that obstacles

  6. john says:

GOD is faithful over our life

  7. cheryl says:

jayaram. I am praying for you.. Sadness is real and it hurts, but remember it is just for a moment. GOD Is faithful and true and he will lift you out of your sadness.

  8. jayaram says:

iam so sad i have so much problems

  9. Susan says:

One good thing about Satan is that his attacks are always the same. Unfortunately, his greatest weapon is lust and our low esteem. He has destroyed the mind and the temple of many with drugs and smoking. Sin allows him legal ground in our lives, but God will give you supernatural protection against all of it if you ask Him. Try this, when you experience lust with someone, ask the Lord that a real opportunity must never arise, as you feel you are too weak. Just as a little sheep that does not know better, the Lord will keep His hand over you in your hour of temptation. Admit your weakness, and experience His grace. It’s amazing.

    1. Jan Nickerson says:

Amen! He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world! Surrender everything to Jesus. Trust Him.
