Q:

Do you believe in reincarnation? From time to time, I have strange thoughts about my life, and I think they must be memories from other lives I once lived on earth. Don't you think this might be possible?

A:

The Bible makes it very clear that we only pass through this life once, and we do not return time after time. God puts us on earth for only a brief period of time, and then we enter eternity—either in heaven with God or else separated from Him in what the Bible calls hell. The Bible says, “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

Why is this important? For one thing, it means that our life right now is serious, because what we do with God now will determine our eternal destiny. We will not have a second chance; as the Bible says, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

One reason some religions believe that we will return to this earth time after time is because they believe one life won’t be long enough for us to purify ourselves from sin. But the Bible teaches that no matter how much time we have, we can never wash away our sins. Only God can do this—and this is what He made possible by sending His Son into the world to be our Savior. Christ did for us what we could never do for ourselves, and when we commit ourselves to Him, all our sins are forgiven.

I urge you to put your faith in Christ alone for your salvation. Then thank Him that when you die you will go to be with Him through all eternity. Christ alone is our hope of salvation, and I pray He may become your hope as well.
