Did Jesus ever commit sin? No one is perfect, so I have a hard time imagining that He didn't sin, but I've also heard that Christians believe He was perfect. How was that possible?

If Jesus had only been an ordinary man like everyone else who ever lived, then you’d be right — He, too would have been a sinner. No matter who we are, we all — without exception — commit sin and break God’s law. As the Bible says, “There is no one who is righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10).

But Jesus wasn’t only a man. The Bible tells us that He was also divine — that is, He was God in human form. In other words, Jesus was different from every other person who ever lived or ever will live, because He was both fully God and fully man. The eternal God came down from Heaven and became a man — and that man was Jesus. The Bible says, “He is the image of the invisible God. . . . For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him” (Colossians 1:15,19).

There is only one thing that God cannot do, and that is commit sin — and because Jesus was God, He could not sin. He could be tempted — but He could not sin. Even His enemies admitted they could find no fault in Him (see John 8:46).

Why is this important? It’s important for one reason: Only someone who was without sin could save us from our sins. And that is what happened when Jesus died on the cross: All our sins were transferred to Him, and He took upon Himself the judgment we deserve. Don’t carry your burden of sin and guilt any longer, but open your heart to Jesus Christ and trust Him alone for your salvation.

    1. Simon says:

Jesus died for humanity and rose again! There is no reason to feel sorrow. That day was a victory!

This question came up when we were in Bible Study and the participants, including the leader, said that as a child Jesus did sin and they used the example of when he disappeared in Jerusalem and his parents went crazy looking all over for him and he simply said he was doing his father’s business–kind of reprimanding them–but they explained that he disobeyed his parents, causing them to worry and that this was perfectly normal for a child to commit this type of sin and that he was so young and not responsible as he was not of age yet to be held responsible for any sin-but this still hits me wrong as he is also 100% divine and could not sin–but they seemed very sure as they state that this made him able to be human and understand us more?

John 5:18: “Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.”

I had a conversation with a co-worker as we worked side by side we talked a lot about Jesus 😇 he asked me if i thought that Jesus could’ve sinned, wow as a believer I had to pause for few seconds my response was no way!!!!!!!! His response was how do I know, feeling a little angry but holding on to scripture James 1:19 Understand this my dear brother and sisters you must all be quick to listen ,slow to speak, and slow to anger,my reply to his ? If that was true then the the blood of Jesus never washed are sins away as much as I tried to tell him or make him understand that the son of GOD never sinned but I gold him I would do some research and give him some more concrete evidence like the Bible isn’t concrete enough……this will help thanks

Another thing I think that’s important to point out that Jesus was born without sin through the virgin Mary. An immaculate conception. As far as I’m aware all others are born into sin. From the second we are born we are sinners and without the PERFECT active if Jesus who was Holy without any blemish and the ultimate sacrifice for all mankind.

  9. Kim Muller says:

At a women’s study, one of the ladies said Jesus sinned when He overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple. She said that is why Jesus had to repent for 40 days. We all knew this was wrong except she refused any counsel on the basis of knowing she was right. I’m going to show her this. Thanks.

  10. Fred says:

Adam and Eve's original sin of disobedience placed an obsruction between man and God. As a result, Adam's children and all following generations inherited and carry this sin nature.Jesus was not born of man. Luke 1:35 “And the angel answered and said unto her, the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” Sin was not transferred to Jesus from an earthly father. He was born without sin and led a sinless life. Jesus was the only suitable “unblemished” sacrifice for all sin. By the blood of Jesus and through His death and resurrection, man has a way to salvation; to eternal life with God.
