Can the devil hear you when you pray out loud? If so, maybe we should just pray silently, because then he wouldn't be able to step in and block our prayers. Maybe I shouldn't worry about this, but I do.

No, you shouldn’t worry about this — because God is more powerful than Satan, and even if the devil did try to block God’s answer to our prayers, he wouldn’t be able to do it. Remember, Jesus prayed openly, and He taught His disciples to pray openly (see Matthew 6:9-13).

In other words, our concern shouldn’t be “Does Satan hear my prayers?” but “Does God hear my prayers?” Are my prayers selfish or greedy — or am I honestly seeking God’s will? Do I pray in faith, believing that Jesus Christ has opened the way for me to come into God’s presence by His death on the cross — or am I relying on my own goodness? Is any sin in my life blocking my fellowship with God? The Bible says, “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).

It’s been said that Satan likes us to believe either of two lies about him. The first lie is that Satan is weak and insignificant, and we shouldn’t worry about him or be fearful of his schemes. The other lie says the opposite: Satan is all-powerful, and we are helpless against him.

In fact, Satan is not weak and insignificant; the Bible compares him to a roaring lion (see 1 Peter 5:8). But neither are we helpless against him — if we belong to Christ. Make sure of your commitment to Jesus Christ — and then remember: the closer you are to God, the further you are from the devil.

When we pray to God to lead and guide us and pray for signs to be lead the correct way or if we pray and ask our Heavenly Father show us if it’s our Father leading us through what we prayed or Satan how would I know. I pray for knowledge, wisdom and understanding daily I just want to be lead the right way.

Thank God for this article… So basically when you pray make sure it reaches your Heavenly Father and take no thought of tomorrow..God knows your future so once you are rooted and grounded in Him nothing satan tries will prosper even if he can hear our prayers. Amd remember when you pray do not pray anxiously meaning hurry up Jesus answer my prayers quick.. Just pray with faith that what you have asked God for is being done.. Even if it takes 100 years… God knows what He is doing.. In time, He makes all things beautiful

I have struggled in my prayer life FOREVER. I have seen people pray about things and get an answer, but not in the way that seemed to help at all. Joni Erickson Tada, for example, prayed that the Lord would do something awesome with her life. Shortly after that, she had her accident. Did God answer her prayer? Yes!! But her spinal cord and physical abilities were sacrificed for it. I am wanting to pray more, and be closer to the Lord. Knowing that only the Lord hears my prayers, and that Satan has no power over them, is of great comfort to me

How do you know if it’s just our thoughts or if it’s a thought Satan put in our mind? God gives us free will I know. Are all bad thoughts from Satan or just our thoughts?

    1. Tiffany Jothen says:

Good question, Christine. When discerning whether a thought is from God, remember that He can speak to us in different ways. He might speak to us through what we read in the Bible, through the advice of wise friends or through opportunities that come our way.

Ask for wisdom to understand when He speaks to you, and if you feel like He is leading you to do something, don’t hesitate! Also remember that God will never lead you to do something that’s against His Word, the Bible. Satan, on the other hand, is deceitful, and wants to drive a wedge between us and God. That’s why it’s important we read Scripture for ourselves and understand who God is and how He works in our lives.

  9. kelly jacobs says:

But, if I pray my most intimate thoughts, questions, struggles and concerns to God. Satan can better plot against me. Satan can’t hear my thoughts, but do you think God allows Satan to hear my prayers?

  10. David says:

Satan can put thoughts in your mind (i.e. Peter in the Gospels). So, I'm sure Satan already knows what your thinking anyways. So, praying silently wouldn't be any different to Satan than praying aloud. I used to pray silently back when I was a child. But now, in private, I pray aloud, because I believe the spoken word is very powerful. God created the universe with words. And as Christians, we are like prophets of God. We, as children of faith, have the power to move mountains with our words. Too many Christians think that we are powerless and insignificant and don't ask our Heavenly Father for the desires of their heart. The devil is a liar.
