Q:

I didn't grow up in a religious family, and I've never been religious myself. Is it possible for someone like me who has never had any religion to become religious? Or is it too late (I'm almost seventy)?

A:

No, it’s never too late for anyone to discover the greatest truth we can ever know: God loves us, and no matter who we are or what we’ve done, He wants to welcome us home and make us His children forever.

You see, to you God is a stranger—and that’s not surprising, since you grew up in a family that never paid any attention to Him. But you are not a stranger to God! God knows all about you; He made you, and He constantly watches over you. Even when we ignore Him, He does not ignore us. In fact, every breath you take … every beat of your heart … every second of your life … is a gift from Him.

And yet we are still separated from God—and the reason is because we have left Him out of our lives and chosen to go our own way. The Bible calls this “sin”—and our greatest need is to have our sins forgiven so we can be reconciled to God.

Is this possible? Yes—because God has made it possible! He did this by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to become the final and complete sacrifice for our sins. Now He freely offers to forgive us and make us His children—and He will, as we put our faith and trust in Christ. God’s promise is for you: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Pray and ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior
