The first thing I urge you to do is to begin each day with God’s Word, and with prayer. This will turn your heart to God, and it also will keep Satan from gaining a foothold on your day. The Bible says, “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
What should you pray for? First, make thanksgiving a regular part of your prayers. Thank God for Jesus Christ, and thank Him for saving you. Thank Him also that you aren’t just part of an earthly family – you are now part of the family of God, and you are His child forever.
Then pray for your family. They think they are on the right road in life, and they can’t imagine living any other way. But they need Christ, and they need to discover that God’s way is far better than the ways of this world. Pray that God will help you see them through His eyes, and that He will help you love them the way He does, and be an example to them.
I urge you also to pray for one or two Christian friends who can encourage and help you (perhaps in your church). You need them – and they need you. The Bible tells us to “encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
