Franklin made one last call to the crowd, the praise band played and we are done here in Quad Cities. It’s been a blast Davenport. Thanks so much for welcoming us to your beautiful town. The Tour rolls on next weekend to it’s final stop: The Twin Cities. We’ll see you there!
Everyone’s favorite band from Texas is on stage and fans are going wild. That’s right; Flyleaf is closing out the show in style, playing “How He Loves Us” at full volume. It’s a beautiful song that speaks of the rapturous love of God for us, His creation. What a way to end the concert!
Franklin took the stage one more time and told the story of the prodigal son from Luke 15. He compared the state of the son’s soul to the condition of humanity at large. We’re all in need of Jesus, in order to be put back in connection with our Creator. The call has gone out and many are responding.
After Franklin came out and shared another word about Jesus, The Afters are continuing the rock goodness with their pop-infused melodies and riffs. It’s been a long, hot, and muddy day, but it’s been a good one! The music train just keeps on rollin’.
And now Fireflight’s out, bringing their female-fronted heavy alternative rock. They’re putting on an impassioned performance and the audience of thousands is loving it! Kids of all ages and stripes are out here, moshing as one.
Give it up for DecembeRadio! They’re out on stage now, lighting up the QC with their vintage rock stylings. Along with their own southern rock original tunes, they also thrilled the crowd with a sample of Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son,” complete with a double guitar solo. Pretty awesome.
Franklin is out on stage, sharing the good news of the Gospel. He’s been talking about his own life, before coming to know Jesus. “We all need forgiveness,” he says. He’s also talking about how valuable our souls are to God. “Your soul is worth more than the whole world! God loves you! He’s got a plan and a purpose for your life! God sent His son down from heaven to earth on a rescue mission.” It’s a powerful message of love and there are hearts throughout the crowd who need to hear it.
Bounce wit’ me! GRITS is here people, bringin’ their funky Nashville take on hip-hop. It’s a hot mess out in the crowd, but the energy is flowing and we’re off to an awesome start here in Davenport. It’s gonna be awesome. If you’re not here yet, what are you doing? Thousands of people are here, with more on the way. The time is now, the place is here!
Saturday Update – 12:01pm
Sound checks. Stage tune-ups. Testing, testing, testing…We’re about 3 and 1/2 hours away from kicking out the jams in Quad Cities. Cannot wait. Are you on your way yet? Because you should be! See you here soon!
Friday Evening Update
What up rockers?! It’s that time again. Time for another weekend of sweet music, fun times with friends and the best news you’ve ever heard. That’s right, Rock The River has arrived in the Quad Cities! Baton Rouge and St. Louis were amazing stops and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the QC. The team has been here almost all week, getting the stage and grounds set, working on the technical details, weathering the rain today…you name it, it’s been happening. And it’s almost time for the kickoff!
The artist line-up this time around is a little different from the first two stops. The always fantastic Flyleaf is back with us once again, but the rest of the bands are brand new to the tour. If you come out tomorrow afternoon, you’ll get a chance to rock out with The Afters, Fireflight, G.R.I.T.S., and DecembeRadio. I’m stoked to hear all of these groups…plus the JSAW skateboard team are going to be here, putting their bodies on the line to pull off some killer moves on the asphalt.
Franklin will be sharing from his heart too, so this is one event that you won’t want to miss. We’ll be covering it live, so come back often for more updates and news.
And in case you’re still not convinced about how awesome this is going to be…well, check this out:
