Joni’s story was told in a feature film from World Wide Pictures, Inc., and her teaching has been valued at events such as Amsterdam ’86, NACIE ’94 and Amsterdam 2000, sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Joni also has spoken at several Billy Graham Crusades.

Her family physician, Dr. Geoffrey Drew, was with her at Los Robles Medical Center and Hospital, standing by as the oncology surgeon, Dr. David Chi, performed the procedure. “Joni’s cancer was determined to be Stage 2, and while some lymph nodes were affected and Joni will need chemotherapy to follow up this surgery, this is a highly survivable cancer and we anticipate a positive prognosis,” Dr. Drew said.

Next steps for Joni and her husband, Ken, involve meeting with a medical oncologist to determine the kind and course of chemotherapy she will undergo.

“I’ve been so blessed reading the many cards and emails and the blog posts on Joni’s Corner,” she writes on her organization’s Web site. “Ken and I are absorbing as much information as we can from the nurses and physical therapists here at the hospital before we leave. I’m just very much looking forward to sitting up in my wheelchair and looking at life from a 90 degree angle rather than in bed!” said Joni.

“I want to thank the many people who have been praying for me – judging from the progress on my healing after surgery plus my high spirits, God is doing great things through your prayers!” she added.

Further updates regarding Tada’s health and progress will be posted to the “Joni’s Corner” section of the Joni and Friends ministry Web site.

Well-wishers are invited to continue to post assurances of their prayers and encouragement to Joni and her husband, as she begins chemotherapy in the next few weeks and on through the recovery process.
