By   •   April 15, 2015

On April 23, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee will visit the Billy Graham Library, where he will meet guests and sign copies of his latest book.

Billy Graham Library visitors will soon get the chance to meet New York Times best-selling author, Fox News commentator and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

On Thursday, April 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Huckabee will sign copies of his new release, God, Guns, Grits and Gravy.

Huckabee wrote his latest book to offer hope and encourage optimism, despite the ominous outlook many Americans have toward the future of our nation.

Through this book, Huckabee reflects on the American way of life as it once was, what it is now, and what it could be as he explores a wide range of our cultural aspects.

While Americans currently face issues such as racial divisions, gay marriage debates and declining patriotism, Huckabee aims to offer hope and encourage optimism for the future.

And as a former pastor in his home state of Arkansas, Huckabee has attributed much of his spiritual growth—the real reason for his optimism—to the ministry of Billy Graham.

He once wrote of an evangelism training event where he heard Billy Graham speak. He explained how it left a mark on him as a 16-year-old boy—and later as a pastor and as a governor.

And even still, today.

“I had heard Billy Graham’s sermons on radio and television since I was a child. As a teenager, I read books by Dr. Graham and used a devotional guide he had written for my daily quiet time. But hearing him in person was a privilege I thought I would never have,” said Huckabee.

“God spoke to me in a powerful way that night in 1972. Though I had been a believer since age 10, Dr. Graham’s message that night on the importance of being the ‘light of the world’ would start a process of spiritual discovery for me that continues to this day.”

Books will be available for purchase in Ruth’s Attic bookstore, or you may bring your own. There is a limit of two signed books per person. Governor Huckabee will sign on a first come, first served basis until 8 p.m. For more information, call 704-401-3200 or email LibraryEvents@bgea.org.
