As of 4 p.m. there had been no further episodes of intestinal bleeding since Monday morning, when he experienced a second spontaneous bleed that ceased shortly after it began. His physicians say he may have experienced a diverticular bleed, a common condition that often heals on its own.

Mr. Graham remains in fair condition and fully alert. His children who have been visiting with him say he has been following the news of Hurricane Dean and is in prayer for people and property in its path, and is grateful for the prayers of many well-wishers on his behalf.
