A one-day training course on ministry security is being offered at the Billy Graham Training Center on Feb. 22. The training is designed for anyone from church leaders to ushers to security staff to missionaries.

What would you do if someone at your church became seriously ill during a service? Or a violent person disrupts the service? Or a child goes missing from the children’s ministry?

Scenarios like this may be disturbing to dwell on, but bring up the question—is your church prepared in all areas of security?

On Feb. 22, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is hosting a Ministry Security Regional Training Course at its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

And while BGEA is hosting the one-day event, the training will be handled by the organization CPPS (Center for Personal Protection and Safety), used by more than 60 percent of Fortune 100 companies and more than 1,600 colleges and universities.

“This has been the most useful security training imaginable for the broad scope of faith-based organizations I am aware of,” said John Repsold, senior pastor of Mosaic Church. “Every church and mission agency should require this training.”

From senior and assistant pastors to lay leaders and other church staff workers, the training is designed for anyone in church leadership. Missionaries, first responders and security directors could also find value in this course.

“Great presentation from folks that have the experience to validate it,” said Brent Brantley, contingency director for Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Some of the topics covered range from how to protect your children, worship and mission teams to recognizing signs of a potential crisis before it occurs.

The ministry security training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 22. A special reduced cost of $99 (including lunch) is available by using the discount code: BGAMSCFEB14. Click here to register.

There will be an opportunity for a VIP tour of the Billy Graham Library before the training from 7:30-8:30 a.m. For info, contact dskipper@bgea.org.
