After the original date was snowed out, An Evening at The Cove with David Phelps has been rescheduled for Monday, June 30, 2014. Tickets are still available but are not expected to last long.
Phelps will now hold the fourth concert of the year at The Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, N.C.
Other upcoming concerts will feature Brandon Heath, Mark Schultz, Chris August, Rend Collective, Fernando Ortega and more.
Below are five questions and answers.
Q: When will you be releasing a new solo project?
A: I plan to start working on a new one this year. I’ve been writing for a while and hope to find the right songs for the project.
Q: Do you pray before each concert, and if so what do you pray for?
A: Yes! We always pray that God will be glorified and that we will remain mindful of those in attendance that need to hear some hope.
Q: Why have you chosen to focus on gospel music instead of Broadway, classical or other opportunities? Would you consider acting in a Christian movie?
A: I love many types of music but I always felt a call to sing gospel music. As a kid, I fell in love with the music and the unique connection that happens between me and the audience because of the hope in the music. I think I might like to do some acting. Some opportunities have come up recently that have gotten me thinking about it.
Q: Did you sing at your wedding, and if so what song did you sing?
A: Yes! I sang a ridiculously long song I wrote for Lori. I was bored by the end of it—haven’t sung it since.
Q: What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about God during your career?
A: Probably that I still have so much more to learn. Seeing things from His perspective is so important when we are on this journey and sometimes so hard to do.
