CLINTON, Miss. — The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has announced that, at the invitation of local church and civic leaders, Will Graham will hold the Central Mississippi Will Graham Celebration at A. E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton, March 28-30, 2014.
“After praying about the invitation to hold a Celebration in Clinton, I believe that now is the right timing – God’s timing – for the event,” said Graham. “I’ve already had the blessing of getting to know a number of local leaders from the area, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to spend more time there praying and meeting with folks, and preaching at the Central Mississippi Celebration next year.”
The Central Mississippi Will Graham Celebration is operating under the direction of a Celebration Executive Team led by Clinton Mayor Phil Fisher. Area volunteers representing churches and denominations across the region will participate in the preparation process, working toward a successful Celebration.
“With the world in such confusion and disarray – as people struggle with difficult family and financial issues – with everyone so hurried and busy, we all need a time to stop and reflect; a time to hear the teachings of Christ and reassess our priorities,” said Mayor Fisher, discussing the importance of the upcoming Celebration. “We need the inspiration to look at our faith and within ourselves in order to live a life centered in Christ and not the trappings of the world.”
All Celebration programs will be free and open to the public. BGEA Celebration Director Bob Hickling and a group of experienced staff will help guide preparations. Additional staff has been hired locally.
“I believe this is the time God ordained for this to happen because of all the prayer that has gone into it coming to fruition,” said Hickling. “So many different people are being brought together, sharing stories of how they have been praying for something like this for years.”
