East Tennessee Franklin Graham Festival Ready to "Rock the City" of Knoxville
Concert Features High Energy Music and a Message from Franklin’s Son, Will
KNOXVILLE, TN, February 6, 2008 -- As the East Tennessee Franklin Graham Festival draws closer, the local support and excitement in the Knoxville area are building. No where will that anticipation be more evident than at “Rock the City,” a rock concert for area teens and college students on Sunday, February 10, at 5 p.m. at the Knoxville Coliseum.
The concert will feature Building 429, whose hit debut single “Glory Defined” topped eight separate charts and was declared BMI's Christian Song of the Year. Building 429 went on to capture the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. Also headlining “Rock the City” will be Canadian pop-punk band Hawk Nelson, and local Knoxville urban gospel artist Millinium Diciple.
Will Graham, the 33-year-old son of Franklin Graham and grandson of evangelist Billy Graham, will deliver a relevant message to the audience. “This is an exciting opportunity not only for me but for all of East Tennessee,” says Graham. “I’m really looking forward to coming to Knoxville, enjoying two of the top bands in Christian music, seeing Knoxville’s Millinium Diciple for the first time, and sharing with the audience how I found hope and a purpose for my life.”
Graham, who has followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in ministry, leads evangelistic events of his own. Since beginning his evangelistic ministry in April 2006, he has spoken to more than 50,000 people during his Will Graham Celebrations in the United States and Canada. More than 1,600 have made personal commitments to Christ during these multi-day outreaches. In November 2007, Graham joined his father for the Franklin Graham Festival in Hong Kong, where he spoke to 40,650 young people at a youth event.

“Rock the City” is one of many events leading up to the East Tennessee Franklin Graham Festival, which will be held in the Thompson-Boling Arena on the campus of The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, April 25-27, 2008. Recently, 740 church leaders attended Festival Leaders Rallies featuring Billy Graham’s longtime friend and associate Cliff Barrows at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and Park West Church of God.
