Thousands Unite for Greater Knox County Will Graham Celebration
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio, October 8, 2007 – -- Will Graham, grandson of evangelist Billy Graham, completed his 2007 Celebration schedule this weekend with the three-day Greater Knox County Will Graham Celebration in Gambier, Ohio. Approximately 5,900 attended the event at the Kenyon Athletic Center, with 259 responding to the invitation to make a personal commitment for Jesus Christ.
Throughout the weekend, Graham delivered the Gospel message and reminded those in attendance that they must make a decision. Quoting the Roman ruler Pontius Pilate, who asked the crowds, “What should I do with Jesus,” Graham directed that question toward the audience at the arena. “My friends, tonight I’m going to ask the same question of you: What are you going to do with Jesus?”
He continued, “Making no decision for Jesus is making a decision about Jesus. You can’t stay neutral.”
Graham was joined during the Celebration by award winning Christian music artists, including American Idol finalist George Huff, former dcTalk star Michael Tait, South African rock band Tree63, and Gospel singer Martha Munizzi.
On Saturday morning, Oct. 6, GoFish led 1,000 children and parents at “KidzFest.” Prior to the popular band taking the stage, the families were treated to inflatable bounce houses, face painting, games, clowns, puppet shows, and other fun activities. At the conclusion of the program, 113 came forward at the invitation to accept Jesus as their Savior.
“It has been a phenomenal weekend. This is just the beginning of what God is going to do through the churches in Knox County,” said David Gore, chairman of the Celebration Executive Committee.
Marcy Rinehart, communications chair for the event, added, “I feel so blessed to have been a part of the Celebration. The music and the messages were exactly what our community needed to hear. Now that the services are over, the real work begins. As Christians in Knox County, we need to continue praying and reaching out to our neighbors and friends.”
Graham’s previous 2007 Celebrations included events in Paducah, Ky., and Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. His 2008 schedule will be announced in the coming months.
