Keep Moving Forward

When I was seven years old, my father bought me my first bicycle. I had never ridden one. Patiently, my family and friends tried to teach me the art of cycling. I soon found out there was one thing I must do if I was to stay on the bicycle—keep moving forward. If I ceased to go forward, I would fall and hurt myself. So it is in the Christian life. We can never live this life on the highest plane unless we are continually growing and moving forward. You should be closer to God today in heart, soul, and body, than at any other time so far in your life.

Prayer for the day

Lord, I have progressed far too slowly in my pilgrim walk with You. Might I be drawn closer to the light of Your love and grace.

Please oh Lord, I know that when I make a few steps forward, I have always taken steps back. Help me repent and be strong in my faith and hope to live a more righteous life in Your law and love. Please help me grow closer and closer to You and Your Son Jesus. Amen.

Always, do your best to keep moving forward. Satan will try and trip you up in clever ways. He knows our weakest points. However, rest assured, if you stay focused on the Lord, he will guide you, every step of the way.

  3. Joyce Paul says:

Focusing on God helps us to take our eyes off our circumstances. Since God’s hand is in everything, we can leave everything in God’s hand. Thank YOU LORD!!!

One of the final remarks Paul wrote to Timothy was, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

This is so true. As we grow in our Christian walk we begin to align our will with Gods. If we keep moving forward, as scripture states, then we will grow daily in our fellowship with Christ. Although it may seem difficult to think this when we are experiencing trials and turmoil. it is still true in these cases. Pain and suffering strengthens our faith. When we come out on the other side of a valley we are closer than ever to God, if we keep close to him and stay obedient.

My experience of growth towards God has been practicing, to the best of my ability, love and self-sacrifice for others. This action started me on the journey and now I have added prayer, meditation, reading scripture, listening to Christian teachings, discipleship, and worshiping with other believers, but if I had to point out one action that allows me to grow closer to God continually it would be service to Him and others. This can sometimes be inconvenient but it is necessary to sustain a fellowship with Christ. Take a look at the example He set for us. It was littered with love and service of others. Great devotional! Very convicting.
