Realities of Life

November 27, 2013

Casting down imaginations . . . and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
–2 Corinthians 10:5

Thousands of people have made plans to escape from the realities of life. A new word has come into common usage the last few years. That word is “escapism.” The dictionary defines it as “a retreat from reality into an imaginary world.” The escape of imagination. Solomon spoke of the unregenerate heart as one which is inclined to excessive fantasy. The dream world Satan promotes always ends with disillusionment. Thousands of people live in an unreal dream world, while shirking their responsibilities toward their families and toward God. The Bible teaches that with Christ in your heart, you can face the realities of life. Even though they are hard, the grace of God will give you greater joy and pleasure than any dream world to which you try to escape.

Prayer for the day

Lord, so often my thoughts make a wasteland of what You are wanting to plant there. This day let every one of them be captive to Your leading.

Amen to that. My christian husband has just walked out on me and my four children. Praying that he will soon see God's direction and his heart will be changed. Found all the devotions recently really meaningful for my situation. God bless you.

Thank you Father for the many that stand up to reach, teach and minister in your name. Billy Graham - has been an example to many and used as your vessel of honor - I pray for him...Thank you Father for your Son - whom without His blood we would all be going to hell. Your blood covers and cleanses and I'm thankful for all that have been Your hands and feet in a world filled with self minded people... help us to look to the cross, to you Father - all things are possible. Renew us this morning I pray as we get ready to go into your House for prayer, fellowship and worship! You Reign now and forever!

Lord...way to often I do find myself not wanting to face the reality of this world and the circumstances that my life has brought me. Please continue to work in my life and help me realize that if I stay focused on you I can deal with any and all this world can throw at me...thank you for everything.

The world offers numerous ways to temporarily escape from reality but they All leave you empty and lost in the end. Gods way, is the only truly satisfying path to choose because it leads to Love, Peace and Joy in the eternal presence of the Triunal Godhead.

I read a great article by Kathy Collard Miller in Decision Magazine on how she struggled daily through almost paralyzing pain to defeat Satan's lies by "taking them captive to the obedience of Christ." When we are at our most vulnerable, the enemy will strike with crafty lies. But we must fight back with God's word in our hearts. We must remember: "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." The Lord will help us if we only ask. May God bless you.

"Satan's Highway " is a fantasy filled, wide road leading to heartache and eternal separation.........."God's narrow road" will have a few bumps and hills, lovingly placed there for our correction ......... but its destination is an eternal paradise in his presence.

I see this. Yes! life is difficult, and the world provides us so many distractions to reality...do you think that's a coincidence? The only relief, the only peace, the only hope is in Jesus Christ. He provides us a "way" to live our lives so that we can have that peace, have that hope, and fully enjoy every moment. Truly, the only peace, is living in the moment with Jesus Christ.

It is said,"nothing in, nothing out." We as Believers should practice "something in, something out!"
