Heart Trouble

November 13, 2013

I beg you to keep away from the evil pleasures of this world . . .
–1 Peter 2:11 (TLB)

We all know there is no such thing as absolute freedom. We cannot drive down the street at 100 miles an hour. You can’t swing your fist at me, because your freedom stops at the end of my nose. We can say that we want freedom to publish pornography, to push harmful drugs, to have unrestricted sex, to lie, to cheat; but if we continue with that kind of permissive freedom, we shall destroy ourselves.

Man can remain free only so long as he has the moral power to restrain his appetites. Basically, our problem is heart trouble. Our hearts need to be changed . . . peace will never come until we have changed human nature, until people begin loving each other instead of hating each other.

Prayer for the day

I need Your guidelines in my life, Lord. Loving You frees me from the bondage of my carnal appetite.

It is the problem with our mind and hence the thoughts are corrupted. The mind has to be cleansed first in order for the thoughts to be pure.

As Billy so aptly prays above the only thing to stop us from getting involved in earthly sin is a healthy, consistent, relationship with Christ. Never rely on your own power because failure is certain. Stay focused on Christ and his love.

May God Bless the entire Graham Family. Your family is an inspiration and an absolute miracle to people all over the world. When I feel discouraged I remind myself of how you all raised the bar as Christians. There are no words to explain what a blessing it is to the world to have Billy and Franklin Graham.

Rev. Billy Graham said; Peace will never come until we have changed human nature, until people begin loving each other instead of hating each other. Absolutely right Rev. Billy Graham! How can we love each other? The answer is in the Holy Word, 1 Corinthians chapter 13. With out the Holy Spirit, with out living for the Lord Jesus Christ it is impossible to love each other and also with out obeying His commandments. Jesus said, "As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love (John 15:9). I thank God, He took my wilderness and transformed in to a garden! The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose, It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God (Isaiah 35:1-2). I pray to God, To take each persons wilderness and make it to a garden, and fill their hearts with love instead of hate. Thank you Rev. Billy Graham daily devotion! God bless you and your family always.

I agree with your devotional we all need to repent and to believe John 3:16. Thank you for your faithful prayers and Christian service around the world! I like the words that say --Christians aren't perfected yet on earth, but are forgiven and seated with Christ in the heavens-- "Jesus wept"--- the Bible. "Standing on the promises of God" the hymn, is great.

I want to thank the Lord for how much he has blessed me. I don't deserve it.

It is so easy to get carried away by the cares of this material world. Reminds me of the Psalmist' prayer to seek divine help to keep looking up: "Open my eyes that I may see wondrous things from Your Word" (Psa 119:18)

Christ gives us the softening potion for our hardened hearts
